Crown Point Sports
Schneider was hired to conduct a master planning study for the City of Crown Point.
Schneider was to gather information from the community regarding the needs and desires for the proposed park site as well as looking at existing recreational opportunities already offered within the City’s park system. Schneider took the information gained during that analysis to development the conceptual layout for the sports complex. The final design prepared for the City included refinement of the conceptual master plan based on input from the City as well as phasing, construction sequencing, and cost opinion preparation.
The final Master Plan design for the sports complex includes a meandering entry drive that connects from 113th street to North Street to the north. At the heart of the park is a large Recreation Facility and Aquatic Center, with ice skating rink, skate park, and Military museum with WWII Memorial garden space adjacent to it. Sports fields include Softball, Baseball, Football, Soccer, Premier Soccer fields with large bleacher seating, and many multi-purpose practice fields. A looped walking trail around the perimeter of the park provides enhanced circulation from the new parking areas. The final design also incorporated existing uses and Schneider took the environmental concerns into account as well as the planning for wetland/ponds.
